Jelena Jankovic has spent some of her time away from the game playing the starring role in a Frame job. One of the most personable players on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour is joining forces with "Hairspray" actress Brittany Snow to collaborate in a new, original Reebok Entertainment-produced TV show titled "Framed" that will debut Friday night on the IFC channel.
“Framed” aims to take viewers behind-the-scenes in presenting an unfiltered, real view of the biggest names in sports, who each endorse Reebok, and entertainment both on and off the field, court and screen.
Jankovic's spirited sense of adventure and her desire to tell her story directly to fans drew her to the project.
"What attracted me most to the Reebok Framed project was that I love the idea of a challenge, especially the aspect of doing something completely different," Jankovic told Tennis Week today. "Starring in 'Framed' provided me with the opportunity to tell my story to fans. I feel that I am pretty expressive on the tennis court, however fans still don't get to see everything that I am about just by watching me in competitions. Framed provided a window into my life and into who I truly am as a person."
Snow directs the Jankovic episode of Framed, which will premiere on January 11. The pair spent time together on and off the court and Jankovic said she's pleased by the final product.
"I loved having Brittany Snow be the first-time director of my Framed episode," Jankovic told Tennis Week. "We have many similarities, we are both young, fresh and full of energy! I think we had great chemistry together and I think fans will see that when the episode comes out!"
Other celebrities and athletes featured in the original series include NBA All-Star Baron Davis framed by television and screen star Emmanuelle Chriqui and Denver Nuggets star guard Allen Iverson framed by music icon Nelly.
"As a Director, one mistake can get you into trouble," Iverson said. "Framed wasn't scripted, and when it's not scripted real life is exactly what you get."
