AmEx Brings US Open To Madison Square Park By Tennis Week
Tuesday, August 19, 2008

New Yorkers can enjoy the US Open free of charge without leaving Manhattan.

American Express will again present its popular US Open live tournament viewing event at Madison Square Park (located between 23rd and 26th Streets directly across from Tennis Week headquarters) from Friday, August 29th through Sunday, September 7. Between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m., Madison Square Park will be transformed into the ultimate tennis experience, including giant viewing screens, stadium seating and concessions from NYC-area restaurants, Country, Hill Country Barbecue Market and Rickshaw Dumpling Bar.

From avid tennis enthusiasts to friends, family and co-workers looking to get out and enjoy the game together, more than 337,000 people attended last year’s viewing event.

In addition to sponsoring big screens in the Park, AmEx will also offer small screens to fans at the US Open starting next week.

American Express Vision Live at the Open: American Express offers one of the hottest items on the grounds of the US Open — free personal televisions to rent for the day to enhance the live tennis experience.  Fans in Arthur Ashe Stadium or on National Tennis Center grounds will be able to watch all the action on the courts and access draws, live scoring and player bios when and how they want, right on the personal TV.

Card members don’t have to miss a match or major play with multiple channels and video recorder features to pause and rewind the action.  There’s an exclusive channel highlighting Venus Williams, James Blake and Billie Jean King as they share their beloved moments playing and watching the Open, their childhood memories and favorite players, as well as spotlights on other great competitors throughout the tournament and a compilation of Cardmembers’ most memorable moments.
